Short version: 18+ to play. Don't cheat, don't harass other players, don't try to break our servers. Subscriptions auto-renew and you can cancel anytime. We can kick you out for breaking the rules. The game is provided as-is. Texas law governs.

1. The service

HackerQuest is an online game operated by SnapIT Software. The game is available at hackerquest.online. Marketing and information pages live at hackerquest.net. Both sites, the game client, APIs, and related services are collectively "the Service."

2. Age requirement

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account, subscribe, or make any purchase. HackerQuest is rated M (17+) by content standard; billing requires legal adulthood in the United States. By creating an account, you represent that you are 18 or older. If you are the parent or guardian of a minor with an account, contact us via the privacy request form for immediate deletion.

3. Account

You are responsible for keeping your credentials safe. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized access — use the support form. We may require proof of ownership before acting on account-recovery requests.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the game in violation of any law that applies to you.
  • Cheat, bot, exploit bugs, run unauthorized macros, or otherwise gain an advantage the game mechanics do not intend.
  • Engage in real-money trading of in-game currency, items, or accounts outside of our official subscription tiers.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk, dox, or incite violence against any person, whether inside the game's chat or outside it.
  • Post content that is illegal in the United States, including CSAM, terroristic threats, or incitement to imminent lawless action.
  • Attempt to probe, scan, or compromise the security of our infrastructure, other players' accounts, or third-party systems (the game simulates hacking — the simulation is the game; real-world attacks are not).
  • Use the Service to distribute malware, phishing content, or spam.
  • Circumvent rate limits, content filters, or moderation.
  • Impersonate another person or falsely claim affiliation with us.
  • Scrape, reverse-engineer, or mass-harvest game data except via any official APIs we may expose.

We enforce this in our sole discretion. Warnings, temporary suspensions, permanent bans, and — in the worst cases — referral to law enforcement are all on the table.

5. Subscriptions and billing

  • Paid tiers (Operator $5/month, Handler $10/month) are processed by Stripe.
  • Subscriptions auto-renew monthly until canceled.
  • You can cancel any time from your Stripe customer portal or by contacting support. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
  • Refunds are not standard. We consider refund requests case by case within 7 days of a charge; after that, refunds are at our discretion.
  • We may change prices. If we do, we give you 30 days' notice and you can cancel before the change takes effect. We will not change the price of a paid period you have already paid for.
  • Chargebacks without prior contact will result in account suspension pending review.

6. No pay-to-win

Paid tiers unlock cosmetic, convenience, social, and meta perks. Paid players do not gain gameplay advantages over free players. We take this seriously; it is core to the game's design. If we ever change this, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel.

7. Your content

You retain all rights to content you create (handles, character biographies, chat messages, market listings). By posting it to the game, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, transmit, and delete it for the purpose of operating the service. We do not claim ownership of your content and we will not use it for advertising.

8. Our content

The HackerQuest game, code, art, characters, story, lore, and trademarks belong to SnapIT Software. You may not copy, modify, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works of our copyrighted material except as permitted by fair use or specific written permission.

Fan art, fan fiction, Let's Play videos, and streaming are explicitly welcome and permitted. If in doubt, ask via the form below.

9. Third-party services

The game integrates Stripe (billing), AWS (hosting / email), Cognito (auth), Web3Forms (support email delivery), and Google OAuth (optional login). Their terms apply to their respective services.

10. Termination

You can delete your account any time via the privacy request form. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our discretion, with notice except where notice would facilitate further violations. Termination does not entitle you to a refund unless required by law.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE MAKE NO WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, REGARDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NONINFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED OPERATION. Saves can be lost. Features can change. We do our best; we are a small team.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SNAPIT SOFTWARE IS NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA OR IN-GAME PROGRESS. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY IS CAPPED AT THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR $100 USD, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold SnapIT Software harmless from claims arising from (a) your breach of these terms, (b) your user content, (c) your violation of applicable law, or (d) your violation of the rights of any third party.

14. Disputes

If you have a dispute with us, contact us first using the form below. We will make a good-faith effort to resolve it informally within 60 days. If we cannot, disputes will be resolved through binding individual arbitration in Harris County, Texas under the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You may also bring an individual claim in small-claims court where you live if it qualifies.

Class actions are waived — you and we agree that disputes will be brought only in your or our individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class or representative proceeding.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You consent to exclusive personal jurisdiction in Harris County, Texas for any proceeding not subject to arbitration.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be posted here with 30 days' notice and communicated via email to subscribers. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
